Construction and stability analysis of STOVL engine performance model

Taking the F135-PW-600 engine on the F35B aircraft as the research object, the propulsion system performance and stability of short-distance take-off and vertical landing (STOVL) aircraft is modelled and analysed. The PROOSIS software is utilized to establish an overall performance model of the engine is established based on the component method, and off-design points have calibrated with public data. On this basis, the stability of each component under typical mode conversion flight tasks i s analysed. The analysis results show that during the mode conversion process, the high-pressure shafts hold better stability comparing with low-pressure shafts. Due to the load fluctuation of the Lift-Fan component, the operating point of the low-pressure turbine varies widely. It is found that the increasing speed of power which is used for driven Lift-fan, adopts a slow-to-fast approach, which is more conducive to maintaining the stability of the propulsion system. The above results are of great significance to the control law design of STOVL aircraft.
