Optimizing Hybrid Active Power Filters for Harmonic Correction Using the One to One Based Optimizer (OOBO)

Harmonic correction is influenced by the parameter settings of the hybrid active power filters (HAPF). To optimize these settings, this research uses the One to One Based Optimizer (OOBO), as a recent meta-heuristic algorithm. The key aspect of the OOBO methodology design is a thorough understanding of the parameters involved in improving the population when the optimization procedure is in progress, while ensuring the procedure avoids focusing too narrowly on specific population elements. The research emphasizes the application of the OOBO algorithm to address power quality issues, particularly in relation to HAPF systems. By utilizing the unique features of OOBO, the HAPF can effectively mitigate both voltage and current power quality problems. The paper highlights the importance of achieving higher-quality electricity by considering factors such as reduced complexity, increased efficiency, and lower costs. To validate the developed model, a commonly used HAPF topology is employed. In systems with nonlinear loads and sources, a specific function is established to measure overall harmonic distortion of the current (ITHD) and voltage (VTHD), respectively, helping to reduce harmonic pollution (HP). The OOBO algorithm demonstrates superior performance compared to existing algorithms and aligns with previous analyses and other notable optimization techniques. Overall, this research showcases a novel application of the OOBO technique in global optimization.
