Lighting Control in Combined Direct Solar Lighting Systems with Optical Fiber and Artificial Lighting with LED

The energy crisis and the search for clean energy have led to the development of efficient solutions in various fields. One of the solutions being studied and implemented is direct lighting systems using concentrated sunlight through plastic optical fibers (POF). This work addresses a solution for luminaires, which integrates the optical fiber solution with the well-established LED lighting systems. The purpose of this hybrid solution is to control the illumination level in the environment, compensating for the variation in solar lighting that occurs due to changing atmospheric conditions. Laboratory tests in lighting technology were conducted to verify the solution. The results indicate that it is a good, low-cost solution for solar lighting systems with optical fibers.
