Service Quality Optimal Regulation in Electrical Energy Distribution Networks

This paper presents a predictive model designed to optimize investments and operational costs in Electrical Energy Distribution Networks, with a focus on service quality. The model evaluates investments in network renovation and improvements, as well as corrective maintenance costs, to ensure adherence to the quality standards set by the regulatory body in Brazil. It is a valuable tool for distribution system operators to strategically allocate resources, optimize network investments, and maintain service quality that aligns with customer expectations. By leveraging public data on investments and service outages, along with sophisticated analytical techniques such as queueing theory and multivariate data analysis, the model offers valuable insights for enhancing operational efficiency. Furthermore, using linear programming and nonlinear programming concepts, the model facilitates the attainment of optimal maintenance costs. However, it also sheds light on the shortfall in accounting for customer impact resulting from service outages in the corrective maintenance cost.
