A high efficient Exponentially Tapered Vivaldi antenna with DGS for Ultra-wide Band Applications

The Vivaldi antenna with meander line defected ground structure (DGS) resonates at ultra-wide band (UWB) frequencies. The substrate patch is designed with exponentially tapered slot Vivaldi (ETSV) antenna and rectangular slot with meander line DGS is etched on ground plane. The four rectangular slots are etched on ground for accurate impedance matching of the Vivaldi antenna. The proposed Vivaldi antenna is resonated at three frequencies 6.95 GHz, 8.47 GHz and 9.93 GHz. The higher reflection coefficient values are measured at center frequencies. The electric field, magnetic field co polarization and cross polarization values measured at center frequencies. The reflection coefficient (S11) and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) of fabricated antenna is reasonable matches with simulated antenna. The surface current distributions values are accurate for real time UWB applications. The Vivaldi antenna is useful for radar and satellite applications.
