An Automated, Integrated Spectrum Management and Monitoring System

Automated spectrum management and monitoring systems are available to support, simplify and automate many of the responsibilities of administration of the radio spectrum. Functions which can be automated include processing applications for radio service, assigning frequencies and issuing licenses; collection of fees for use of the spectrum; parameter measurement, occupancy and most other monitoring measurements; and detection and clearance of interference. The International Telecommunication Union recommends that spectrum management and monitoring systems be fully integrated. An integrated system can perform valuable functions including Automatic Violation Detection, where license information in the management system database and measurements from the monitoring system are used to identify unlicensed transmitters and transmitters operating outside of their licensed parameters.
