Comparison of Different Vector Tracking Architectures in Challenging Urban Environments Using the TEX-CUP Data Set

Positioning in dense urban environments using global navigation satellite systems (GNSSs) depicts to this day a challenging task due to the limited sky view and unpredictable multipath propagation. Vector tracking (VT) receiver architectures have proven to be a viable approach to address those challenges. In this work, a comparison between two different implementation strategies, i.e., a centralized approach and a federated one, will be conducted. The publicly available TEX-CUP data set from the University of Texas at Austin is used herein to demonstrate and compare the performance of both implementations under real-world conditions. Despite theoretical expectations, as in [1], the practical performance advantage of the centralized over the federated approach could not be revealed in the processing results.
