Conformity Assessment for Wide Band Data Transmission Equipment under EU MRAs

Since the formation of the World Trade Organization (WTO) in 1995, European and third country officials have accelerated efforts to develop and apply three important trade promotion devices: harmonisation, equivalence, and mutual recognition (MR). Their goal has been to reduce what industry considers being technical barriers to trade posed by national regulatory requirements. This presentation will focus on the application of the EU MRAs for R&TTE equipment. After an introduction to different MRAs, a practical application for wide band data transmission equipment will be given. Conformity assessment requirements in the EU, USA and Japan will be presented. Technical parameters, test requirements, performance of tests and administrative requirements as well will be discussed in detail. Finally advantages of the EU MRAs will be pointed out.
