Random Noise Tolerance of 1000Base-T Channels, Alien Cross Talk and a Way to Correlate the Unbalance Attenuation of Data Grade Channels to EMI

The pursued objectives are: 1. to determine the sustainable alien crosstalk level for the 1000Base-T protocol. 2. to determine tolerance limits for alien cross talk, which might be used for specification purposes. 3. to develop a method to inject common mode noise into a channel, to correlate the noise power to the unbalance attenuation of the channel and to measure the electromagnetic emission of the channel in an anechoic chamber. Towards this purpose a differential mode noise injector is built, which can be inserted into a channel at any location without interrupting the bi-directional data traffic. The noise injector is calibrated and then installed close to the center of a Category 5e channel. The transmission performance this channel is determined to be able to add the internally generated noise to the injected noise. The noise injector is then modified for common mode noise injection
