Design and Development of an IoT-Enabled Remote-Controlled Hovercraft for Efficient Land and Water Mobility

This research study proposes the design and development of a remote-controlled hovercraft system capable of seamless transitions between land and water environments. It brings together all key components that include the propulsion and lift power provided by BLDC motors and the directional controls by servo motors, which are managed by an Arduino Uno microcontroller. The use of a NodeMCU module that is based on the ESP8266 ensures wireless control through the Blynk IoT platform, hence permitting real-time operation through a mobile application. Obstacle avoidance is also given with the use of an ultrasonic sensor. The hovering frame was made from Thermocol, and corrugated sheets have been used to strengthen it. In fact, both buoyancy and structural strength were present in the same frame. The proposed system will be powered by a 2200mAh LiPo battery for generating a suitable amount of power for long periods. This hovercraft system can be really useful in search and rescue activities, environmental monitoring, and for recreational purposes.
