Enhancing Privacy using DNA based Data Hiding

In today’s digital era, the safeguarding of sensitive information against unauthorized access and interception is of paramount importance. Methods for concealing data, such as cryptography and steganography, are essential for upholding the privacy, integrity, and validity of digital information. Among these techniques, DNA-based steganography emerges as a promising approach, leveraging the unique properties of DNA sequences to encode and conceal digital information within pseudo-DNA carriers. This paper provides a review of data hiding methodologies, with a specific focus on DNA-based steganography. Through an analysis of existing literature, this paper explores the principles, techniques, and applications of DNA steganography across various cover media, including audio, image, linguistics, and video. Additionally, this paper proposes a taxonomy for the DNA-based methodologies for data hiding and aims to contribute to the advancement of information security and privacy preservation in the digital age by identifying potential challenges and opportunities for further research.
