A Compact MIMO Antenna based on H-Shaped Isolator with Efficient Isolation for K-band Applications

This study investigated a Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna design featuring two compact rectangular patches with a partial ground plane. To improve isolation, an H-shaped slot was introduced into the ground plane, serving as an isolator positioned between the two rectangular antennas. Simulation results indicate that the MIMO antenna operates within the 20.94 GHz to 22.65 GHz frequency range, covering a bandwidth of 1.71 GHz, suitable for K-band applications. The simulated peak gain of the antenna varies between 3.36 and 4.35 dB. Moreover, the envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) remains below 0.67, while the maximum diversity gain (DG) is around 10 dB.
