Performance Enhancement of a Single-Band Modified Antenna with Key-Shaped Slot for Narrow Ka Band Applications

This research paper explores antenna performance and design for enhanced 5G wireless communication systems. As 5G technology continues to evolve and revolutionize the telecommunications industry, antennas play a crucial role in enabling high-speed data transmission, low-latency communication, and reliable connectivity. Our proposed design is a single-band microstrip antenna that has been customized with various slots of rectangular and circular shape on the patch and the ground. The suggested antenna, which operates at a centered frequency of 39.22 GHz i.e., Ka band, provides a return loss of 33.6121 dB and was constructed on a FR_4 epoxy substrate (permittivity of 4.4), having thickness of 1mm. On the rectangular patch of dimension 3.5x2.5x0.035 mm³, a key-like structure has been created, and two rectangles have been scraped off the surface. Creating the antenna required employing the High-Frequency Structural Simulator (HFSS) software. Furthermore, various parameters of the final structure are examined, including VSWR, reflection coefficients, and the 2-D patterns.
