The Impact of Prosocial Motivation on Organizational Citizenship Behavior

Among employees at the Ministry of Information in Bahrain, focusing on its five dimensions: conscience, sportsmanship, civic virtue, courtesy, and altruism. Using a descriptive analytical approach, data were collected via a questionnaire distributed to 269 employees, achieving a response rate of 88.84% with 239 completed surveys. The findings revealed a statistically significant positive effect of prosocial motivation on all OCB dimensions, with notable differences linked to demographic factors such as age, educational qualification, years of experience, and job level. Sportsmanship emerged as the most influenced dimension, followed by altruism, courtesy, conscientiousness, and civic virtue. The study suggests that managers should encourage employees to view challenges as opportunities for problem-solving and to focus on proactive measures to support colleagues. It also recommends that human resources reassess planning according to employees' workload and urges staff to adhere to break times.
