E-commerce and e-health in Nigeria: Prospects and Challenges of Effective Legislative Framework for Sustainable Development

The rapid advancement of technology has significantly impacted global transactions, with e-commerce driving economic growth in Nigeria. Despite this progress, Nigeria's healthcare sector struggles with inadequate services, more especially in rural areas. E-health solutions offer a promising avenue to improve healthcare delivery and access. Still, their successful implementation faces challenges, such as the need for a robust legislative framework and effective integration with existing healthcare systems. This paper adopts a doctrinal and desktop content analysis approach. It examines existing literature and legal frameworks governing e-commerce and e-health in Nigeria, highlighting the importance of an enabling legal framework. Such a framework could address the challenges and unlock the potential of e-health and e-commerce to drive economic growth, improve healthcare outcomes, and enhance the overall well-being of Nigerians, particularly in achieving the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1 (no poverty), 3 (good health and well-being), and 8 (decent work and economic growth).
