The Role of negative Corona, Trichel Pulses, and Free Electrons in Ball Lightning Creation

Based on reliable observer reports and information of lightning location systems, negative corona and its characteristics, especially Trichel pulses and free electrons, are found to be central to the creation of ball lightning objects. Most likely, the structured negative space charge forms an antenna that leads to the creation of a localized electromagnetic structure. Conclusions on the experimental verification of the hypothesis are drawn.
