NCERT Curriculum Assistant: A Chatbot for Tenth Board Students

NCERT is responsible for developing educational policies and programs, designing and publishing school textbooks, and conducting educational research. These textbooks serve as one of the major resources for the 10th board exam preparation. While preparing for board exams, the students encounter a lot of doubts and queries for which they require something that can be available at all times and can also help them in providing concept clarity. The NCERT Curriculum Assistant chatbot provides support to the students of Class 10th, CBSE Board by answering their doubts, explaining concepts, and providing assistance based on the NCERT curriculum. For this, it makes use of advanced AI technologies like LLama3, LangChain and ChromaDB. The chatbot has been fine-tuned using the official PDFs of NCERT textbook so that it provides accurate and relevant information. The embeddings of these textbooks are stored in a vector database enabling quick retrieval of the most relevant answers. When a student asks a question to the chatbot, it searches this vector database for the top ten most similar responses and then uses the language model to generate the best answer. Additionally, the students can upload the PDFs of some other books which allows the chatbot to expand its knowledge base and provide answers that align most with the study materials being referred to. The NCERT Curriculum Assistant serves as a full time accessible, personalized and interactive educational platform that allows students to independently solve their academic queries.
