Power Applicator to Focus and Confine Radio Frequency (RF) Signal for Parallel Plates Blood Bag Tube SealingUnit

Radio frequency (RF) signal is used for sealing applications of variety of materials (which is also called as Dielectric Heating). In this paper detail design of RF power applicator to focus and confine RF signal for parallel plates Blood Bag Tube sealing unit is presented. Also its operation is explained. This is specially to produce tear seal. It is similar to the microwave heating of food. In RF sealer, RF signal is focused and concentrated through two parallel plates, holding material which is to be sealed. Material molecules try to be in line with oscillating RF field, while doing this it vibrates, friction is produced due to vibration and heat is produced in the material to be sealed. Finally under pressure, the molecules are united and get sealed. The strength of the seal area is very high as compared to the material itself. The seal is clear, uniform with leak proof. In RF sealing final temperature is mainly depend on focusing the energy and its deposition within the material. This energy deposition is mainly depends o the frequency, intensity of the applied field, the applicator design and size as well as the dielectric property of the sealing material. The resultant seal produced is having high strength. Also the seal is uniform, clear and tear seal is obtained.
