Coupling the Finite Volume Method with the Jiles-Atherton hysteresis model for modeling the real magnetic behavior of ferromagnetic materials

studying minor hysteresis loops helps us understand how magnetization and applied magnetic fields interact in materials. This holds significant importance in the field of material science. This knowledge is essential for optimizing device design and performance. The widely used Jiles-Atherton model predicts magnetization behavior in ferromagnetic materials. However, this model has some drawbacks. Especially when dealing with low flux density, it creates symmetrical minor hysteresis loops that do not match physical behavior, resulting in inaccurate predictions. To address these limitations, this research aims to explore the modeling of magnetic phenomena using Maxwell’s laws governing ferromagnetic behavior. We utilized the Finite Volume Method (FVM) to discretize the domain in both spatial and temporal dimensions, which facilitated the extraction of both the magnetic vector potential and the magnetic flux density. Specifically, we shall incorporate the Jiles-Atherton model for minor hysteresis loops into the Finite Volume Method (FVM) computational code utilizing MATLAB ${ }^{\circledR}$. Comparing observed outcomes with empirical data underscores the remarkable efficacy of this approach in predicting magnetization behavior and iron losses in electromagnetic devices.
