A Shipborne Radar Interference Study into 5G Base Stations in the Lower 3 GHz Band in Korea

In this paper, we study the maximum separation distance for spectrum coexistence between the shipborne radar and 5G base stations in the lower 3 GHz band. Based on 280,000 actual 5G base stations' location information, a minimum distance calculation algorithm is developed to derive inter-site distance (ISD), and micro-rural/suburban/urban and small cell outdoor are used to classify the characteristics of four base stations. Then, the final 10,000 5G base stations were randomly selected and distributed in 5 regions across the country. In addition, 7 scenarios considering the antenna direction of the shipborne radar are constructed and the aggregation interference analysis simulation is performed. As a result, 190 km east coast, 150 km south coast, and 100 km west coast were calculated as the maximum separation distances to protect the shipborne radar.
