The Problems of Linearity and Pulse Response in the Design of an Audio-Frequency Interference Voltmeter

In this report some design aspects of an audio-frequency interference voltmeter are presented. According to CISPR recommendations, the quasi-peak detector is the only nonlinear part of the audio-frequency interference voltmeter. An original solution for a quasi-peak detector with an extended range of correct impulse response and improved linearity through application of a nonlinear feedback, are presented. The application of an additional nonlinear element allows us to compensate for the influence of the detector diode nonlinearities. The results of measurements illustrating advantages of the discussed audio voltmeter are presented. The parameters of this voltmeter agree with CISPR Publication No 6 [3], this voltmeter may be useful as a standard meter for measurements of audio devices and radio receivers.
