Optimizing Data Transfer through Duplication for Increased Energy Efficiency in Green Internet of Things

The rapid growth of the Internet of Things (loT) is increasing its application across various fields, leading to higher annual electrical power consumption. To enhance energy conservation in loT usage, it is essential to reduce the data files of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) sensors. Large data volumes prolong the processing and transmission times, thereby consuming more electricity. Transmission can be minimized if sensor node data are repetitive by avoiding the repeated sending of unchanged data. The data-duplication detection method identifies previously sent data, eliminating the need for retransmission unless there are changes in order or magnitude. The test results indicate that the duplication detection process effectively identifies the sent data. The relationship between file size and power consumption is evident: 56-byte files consume 1.808 watts, 29-byte files consume 1.795 watts, and 8-byte files consume 1.793 watts.
