Wireless Sensor Network for Power Control and Monitoring Public Street Lighting with Earthquake Early Warning

Nowadays, there is a phenomenon known as the annual growth in electrical energy consumption, particularly in the case of Public Street Lighting (PSL) bulbs. Almost all the roads are visible as public ones, and the highway is equipped with PSL lighting. PSL lamps are positioned at a 30-meter interval between each of the left and right median lights. The PIK2 project is the subject of the research for this international collaboration. The road length at the PSL lamp installation position is ±1.8 km. The PSL lamps are 250 watts in power. The specific goal of this research is to use microcontrollers, sensors, and LoRa to design and analyze power, voltage, and current measurements in PSL lamps as well as to control and monitor the condition of PSL lamps through the Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) and apply a star topology for the efficiency of electrical energy consumption in PSL lamps. It is anticipated that this study would result in a best practice model for the integration of WSN into Indonesia's PSL system, which will then serve as a guide for businesses looking to advance their WSN capabilities and boost their competitiveness internationally. The proposed research methods are quantitative and objective, so this study is applied to acquire and distribute data at PSL light points. The data on the sensor will be sent through the end node which is then sent to the coordinator node or gateway. The sensor data on this tool can be displayed by accessing the ubidots.
