Design of Control and Monitoring System in the Development of CNC Machines for Plasma-Based Scanning Probe

The development of nanotechnology encourages the need for an efficient control and monitoring system on CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines developed specifically for plasma-based Scanning Probe applications. This research focuses on designing motor control systems on CNC machines and monitoring current and voltage in plasma generation modules. The Universal G-Code Sender firmware is used as the stepper motor movement control, while the plasma generation module uses a 20kV High Voltage Pressure Generator Igniter Step Up Boost integrated on the CNC machine to support plasma-based probe scanning. The monitoring system is made using ZMCT103C sensors to read the current and differential circuit amplifiers to read the voltage in real-time. Testing the control system on the stepper motor using the jog controller on the Universal G-Code Sender is able to run according to the given command, which is as far as 1 mm per step for the X and Y axes. The highest voltage before plasma discharge is 3,069.9 V, the lowest voltage is 2,013.6 V. The highest voltage when plasma discharge occurs is 1,427.5 V, and the lowest voltage is 430,108 V. While the largest current when plasma discharge occurs is 0.13 A, the lowest current is 0.09 A. When there is no plasma discharge, the reading current is zero.
