Enhancing Dental Service Efficiency: Development and Evaluation of a Smart Dental Appointment System

The Smart Dental Appointment System (SDAS) is designed to improve the efficiency of dental services in businesses leverage online web and network services. By shifting from manual scheduling to an automated system, it allows students to easily book, manage, and track their appointments, thereby minimizing missed appointments and reducing administrative workload. Developed using the Agile Development methodology, the system underwent iterative enhancements across five stages: planning, requirements analysis, design, implementation, and testing. A group of 31 respondents, including dentists and students, assessed the system's usability, functionality, and visual appeal through questionnaires and real-world scenarios. The evaluation revealed high user satisfaction, with average scores of 6.41 for usability, 6.05 for usefulness, 6.38 for functionality, and 6.40 for aesthetics on a 7-point Likert scale. These strong ratings underscore the system's effectiveness in addressing user needs and improving the dental appointment process. The SDAS demonstrates considerable potential for enhancing patient management and operational efficiency in healthcare settings, providing a practical solution for streamlining dental services. This study highlights the advantages of automated systems in reducing administrative tasks and enhancing user experience, advocating for wider adoption of similar technologies in healthcare institutions to improve service delivery and patient satisfaction.
