Ethnic Identification of the Younger Generation of Students and Interethnic Relations Among Students

The study of the younger generation of students revealed the direct impact of globalization processes on the development of society, on the formation of value attitudes of its bearers and their interethnic relations. Each generation is characterized by its own set and level of cognitive, adaptive, cultural, and ethnic potential. As a result, these generational features should be taken into account in the educational and educational environment for the effective formation of interethnic relations. The development of interethnic relations is a key factor in the democratic development of the country. Interethnic unity, strengthening mutual understanding and harmony are the main principles of Kazakhstan's policy. The whole system of socialization of Kazakhstani society is focused on positioning unity in diversity, mutual respect, and tolerance. The purpose of the research is to study and analyze the value attitudes between ethnic groups and the level of knowledge of culture, traditions of their ethnic group in a multiethnic student environment. The study was conducted according to the methodology of sociological research. Issues in the field of interethnic relations were dealt with by both domestic and foreign scientists. The scientific literature on interethnic relations, ethnicity, ethnic identification, traditions, and tolerance was studied. The research toolkit is a basic questionnaire in the state and Russian languages. The method of collecting information was an online survey in Google-forms among students of the Republic of Kazakhstan aged 18 to 34 years. The sample was formed on the basis of information on the composition of the contingent in higher educational institutions/secondary vocational educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. According to the results of the study, the relationship between the level of knowledge of culture, traditions, customs of one's ethnic group and the level of education has been revealed. Every fourth respondent characterizes their level of knowledge of culture, traditions, and customs of their ethnic group as an excellent level. Every second person knows enough, well. This is a dominant trend in most of the studied groups. For every third respondent, the norms and values of their ethnic group are very significant, for every second significant. More than half of the respondents feel the need to communicate with their ethnic group, fill this need fully by communicating with relatives in their native language, visiting ethnocultural centers. The dominant majority of respondents feel a sense of pride in their ethnicity.
