Two-Stage Energy Management of Urban-Rail-Transit-based Micro Grid Integrated with EV

The electric vehicle charging station (EVCS) has been widely constructed in urban areas, especially aside by urban railway transit (URT). This trend forms a novel energy integration of URT-based micro grid (URT-MG) with EVCS. To economically manage the energy flow of the URT-MG with EVCS, this research proposes a two-stage energy management, considering the substation operation cost and stability. First, a control strategy of URT-MG is proposed which can reduce the substation peak power. Then, a day-ahead energy management method is designed to reduce the system operation cost, based the forecast RES power and EV behaviour. In the second stage, a smart charging strategy of EVCS is proposed to meet the EV customer's travel demand in the actual operation. The proposed method is verified by simulation based on Merseyrail line in Liverpool, and the energy cost of traction substation is reduced by 23.4%.
