A Novel Automated Steaming Machine for Mass Production of Aripahol

For years, steaming has been recognized as one of the healthiest ways to cook food with a major benefit being it locks in vitamins and flavors. This study aimed to develop an Arduino-based automated steaming machine for Aripahol, a well-known Filipino snack, to lessen the downtime of traditional production. This study focuses on designing and developing a low-cost steamer to improve production, reduce weight, and save labor for small and medium-sized enterprises. Current manual steaming processes are laborious, ineffective, and dangerous, given the exposure to steam. Although Aripahol found commercial steamers, none were cost-effective for small-scale businesses. To tackle these issues, the proposed steamer adds temperature and waterlevel features that are automated using an Arduino microcontroller to achieve optimal cooking. The machine can churn out 20 Aripohal per batch, which takes five minutes to cook, instead of the manual pace of making these items. We learned about the hardware components we could use, how to design circuits and some programming in Arduino IDE. In conclusion, according to the study, Aripahol production efficiency could be improved using an automated steamer. The findings support future research from the point of view of fine-tuning the machine's design and exploring its potential role in small-scale food production.
