ZEDU-1 - The World's Most Environment Friendly Vehicle in Operation

The paper describes the development of a zero emission vehicle, which avoids fine dust emission as good as possible to increase air purity and health of people. To achieve this, it has an encapsulated multi-disk brake to prevent brake wear from being released into the environment and an encapsulation of the drive wheels to collect tire wear from itself and dust from the environment. The concepts of tire abrasion and brake abrasion components are shown, also the design of the total vehicle. Tests were done on the roller test bench and in real drive condition, the emission of particles are measured and the results will be discussed. The efficiency of the system depends on the vehicles velocity and reaches 90% of emission reduction, while sometimes more dust from the environment is collected then emitted.
