Application of Temperature Balancing in Paralleled Power Supply Systems with Current-Sharing Control

This paper introduces temperature measurements of key components to demonstrate that, when switching mode power supplies (SMPS) operate in parallel with the same output power ratio, environmental factors or other specific conditions can lead to temperature differences among the key components of each power supply. If these temperature differences persist over time, they can decrease the overall reliability of the system. However, the proposed circuit architecture and control method effectively reduce or eliminate these temperature differences, achieving nearly uniform thermal loss among all power units and thus realizing temperature balancing. Experimental results confirm the feasibility of this approach. The system-input specification covers the full range of 90 to 264 Vac, with an output specification of 500 W/48 V. The design utilizes an LLC resonant topology and a secondary-side synchronous rectifier (SR), and includes a front-end stage of power factor correction (PFC).
