Possibilities of NVH Analysis of a 200 kW Drive for a Double-Decker High-Speed Train in Lightweight Construction

This paper deals with the investigation of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) measurement possibilities for a 200 kW direct drive in lightweight construction. Therefore, a prototype of a permanent magnet synchronous machine (PMSM) is developed as part of the research project “Next Generation Train”. Due to increased noise emissions during operation, it is necessary to carry out detailed analyses with regard to NVH. There is a need to pay close attention to NVH at an early stage of development, as it is a very critical design issue. For this reason, calculations are already carried out in the digital development phase, which can provide information about the noise behavior of the electric machine. This reduces the number of development loops and saves valuable time and costs. Nevertheless, it is essential to compare the simulation data with measurements on the prototype in order to develop meaningful calculation methods. As part of this work, simulations were initially carried out to calculate the electromagnetic forces that occur and to analyze the mechanical structure. Measurements were then performed to compare and validate the simulation results. As there is a wide range of measuring equipment available, different measuring devices were used and compared with each other. For this purpose, the machine is mounted on a test rig and equipped with vibration sensors. Moreover, different laser vibrometers were used, which provided additional measurement data.
