Signal Integrity Analysis on eMMC Interface

This paper highlights the importance of signal integrity (SI) in modern high-speed circuits, focusing on maintaining signal quality in Printed Circuit Boards. Key SI challenges include managing signal reflections, overshoot, and crosstalk, essential for devices operating at high frequencies. The study addresses both time domain and frequency domain analyses, using parameters like eye diagrams and scattering parameters to evaluate channel performance. Implementation involves optimizing signal paths, trace widths, and via transitions between a high-performance System-on-Module and an Embedded Multi-Media Card memory, with careful attention to timing requirements. Using tools like HyperLynx, the study performs pre- and post-layout analyses to ensure proper signal integrity. Results demonstrate low signal reflection and crosstalk, validating the effectiveness of the design strategies employed.
