Software-Defined Radio Technology Drives the Development of RF Microsystem

The traditional RF front-end is based on compound semiconductor devices with a large number of discrete devices. RF microsystem is the miniaturization of RF front-end by two-dimensional integration, with low integration density and large size. In this work, we design a new RF microsystem based on the software-defined radio (SDR) architecture, using RF transceiver SoC and FPGA. Compared with traditional RF microsystem, more than 20 discrete devices are reduced, with a 95% reduction in size by three-dimensional heterogeneous integration.
