3D Analysis for the Design Impact of Cover-Wall Join on Enclosure's Shielding Performances

Shielding is an important technique often needed to control EMI. The shielding effectiveness of useful structure with gasketed removable panels, doors, cooling air and/or water ducts and wire feedthrough, is a small fraction of what is calculated for the “ideal case”. Thus shielding efficiency is essentially determined by the quality of the gasketing and the design of the various feed-through, not by the sheet metal walls. The aim of this paper is to analyze the behaviour of the particular geometry of the seams between removable panels (cover) and the walls of an enclosure with respect the shielding performances of the enclosure.
