Investigating the Possibilities of Infrared Thermography for the Detection of Hoof Problems in Dairy Cows

The aim of the study was to investigate the possibility of using infrared thermography to detect hoof problems in dairy cows. Cows were visually diagnosed by a veterinarian, after which thermographic images were taken of cows with inflamed hooves and those with healthy ones as well. Surface temperatures were obtained by specialized software and calculations were made. The results showed that, under certain conditions, infrared thermography can be used as an aid in the detection of hoof problems, but in order to refine this technique and increase its effectiveness, further research needs to be done.
