Implementation of Artificial Intelligence as a Disruptive Innovation Trend in the Postal Services Sector

In today's postal sector, automation is gaining more and more ground making human labour redundant. Although lagging behind in this indicator, the Bulgarian postal sector is starting to introduce automated postal stations (APS) in increasing numbers. This study aims to present the implementation of artificial intelligence and other digital technologies in APS as a disruptive innovation, and the implications of this trend for the Postal services sector. In this regard, fundamental issues are addressed: which business processes in the Postal Services Sector could be affected by digital disruptive innovations; to what extent are they likely to be affected; and what are the most threatened Postal services business processes in the near future. Some conclusions are drawn on this basis.
