Smart Meter with Integrated Camera

As modernization and population growth accelerates, the reliance on technology has led to a substantial increase in electricity consumption. This surge not only elevates energy bills and taxes but also highlights the urgent need for efficient and responsible electricity usage. However, a growing concern arises from the alarming rate of power theft and meter tampering, particularly in rural areas. These activities often go undetected, resulting in the loss of billions of units of energy, contributing to resource depletion, and placing undue financial burden on law-abiding consumers. To address this critical issue, there is a pressing need for a smart, technological solution. We propose an enhancement to the existing smart meters by integrating a camera module capable of capturing suspicious activity near the meter. Additionally, the system allows for remote power cut-off from an authorized control center, enabling immediate response to theft or tampering incidents. This innovative approach not only deters illegal activities but also helps safeguard energy resources for a sustainable future.
