Integrated Communication and Radar Detection Based-on Single Modulator at W-Band

Integrated sensing and communication functions in a single system are highly desirable in the future 6G network. A photonics system is proposed, by which high-speed communication and high-resolution radar detection can be simultaneously realized. In the experimental demonstration, the functions of communication and radar detection are realized by employing a single polarization division multiplexing Mach-Zehnder modulator (PDM-MZM). In the experiment, the communication line rate of 48 Gbit/s and the radar detection with a range resolution of 2.1 cm are simultaneously achieved.
