Effect of Overhead Transmission Line Arrangement on Energy Losses in Overhead Power Line Ground Wires

In this paper, Maxwell is applied to the simulation of three-phase transmission lines with different arrangements. The magnetic field distribution around the three-phase transmission line and the magnetic induction intensity distribution at the height of the overhead ground wire are investigated in different phase sequences and inter-phase distances, thus obtaining an arrangement of the transmission line that can minimize the energy loss on the overhead ground wire. The results show that upon adopting the inverted triangle arrangement, with the phase sequence of BAC and the inter-phase distance of 5 m, the magnetic induction intensity at the overhead ground wire is minimal, which in turn achieves the reduction of energy loss on the overhead ground wire.
