A Study on the Deep Logic of Title Promotion of Scientific and Technological Talents in Colleges and Universities Based on Qualitative Comparative Analysis

The title promotion of scientific and technological talents in colleges and universities takes into account the cultivation, evaluation and incentives of scientific and technological talents in colleges and universities, and its influencing factors change with the change of situation and task. Academics have paid a lot of attention to the mode of title promotion of scientific and technological talents in colleges and universities, but there is a lack of multi-factor research on the influence of title promotion. Based on 563 samples from the human resource management system platform of a university in China, this paper identifies nine factors as condition variables, such as degree, original title, practice tasks, annual assessment results, and talent project, through binary logistic regression, and uses qualitative comparative analysis to explore the influencing factors of title promotion for scientific and technological talents in colleges and universities as well as their causal mechanisms. It is found that a high degree (i.e., doctoral degree) is a necessary condition to influence the outcome of title promotion, and there are six combinations of conditions that drive title promotion. This paper not only proposes a new explanatory framework for analyzing the deep logic of the title promotion phenomenon of university scientific and technological talents, but also provides a new causal mechanism for identifying the logic of action of university scientific and technological talents in title promotion.
