Multi-Modal Cavity Model Analysis of Circular and Annular Ring Patch Antennas

This paper presents the implementation of a multimodal cavity model analysis for circular and annular ring microstrip patch antennas operating at higher order modes, validated through measurements. While advanced electromagnetic simulation tools are commonly used to determine the feed position and optimize antenna parameters such as bandwidth, this work verifies the enhancement for accurately identifying the optimum feed location by leveraging multimodal cavity model analysis for these structures when operating at higher order modes. The analysis has been validated both through measurements and simulations, demonstrating that this multimodal approach effectively predicts the impedance characteristics of patch antennas within the framework of cavity model analysis, particularly at higher order modes.
