The Readiness Evaluation of University Ranking: Case of Mongolian University of Science and Technology

This paper describes the pilot study and test of the readiness measurement of Mongolian University of Science and Technology (MUST) for world famous ranking system Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). The Mongolian Government requires higher education instructions to apply for world ranking systems like Times Higher Education, QS and Shanghai Ranking. If the university can be listed in any of such us famous ranking list government promises to support that university in various issues. Moreover, listing in the world ranking will help to develop international cooperation and exchange of professors and students from abroad. The MUST is the key public university in engineering science in the country. The vision of the university is targeted to list in the world ranking system too. Therefore, stakeholders support such us study in the university and the Graduate School of Engineering did pilot analyses on the readiness of the MUST for ranking system. For this goal was designed structure oriented evaluation and the created the logical structures are tested by simulated and real data sets. The sample size for simulated data was 20 and the sample size of real data set was 237. The evaluation general score computed as 0.40 by collected data set which gives sign that the university is not ready for world ranking system.
