Cost-Effective Design of Scribe AI – Robotic Handwriting Systems Using Raspberry Pi Pico and 3D Printing

This paper presents the design and implementation of Scribe AI, a cost-effective robotic handwriting system controlled by a Raspberry Pi Pico microcontroller. Utilizing a 3D-printed plastic framework and lead screw mechanics, the system controls a real pencil to produce handwritten text. By employing affordable materials and simplified mechanical components, the system reduces the cost to approximately $56 per unit while maintaining high accuracy in handwriting replication. Experimental results demonstrate that the system achieves handwriting precision within ±0.3 millimeters, making it a viable solution for applications requiring personalized handwriting production.
