Bifunctional Nanostructures ZnO/ZIF-67/MWCNTs for Cannabidiol Photoelectrochemical Sensing and High-Performance Supercapacitors

The increasing population and modern lifestyle have led to an increasing demand for energy, which requires the development of commercial electronic detection devices and energy storage devices. Hybrid transition metal oxides (TMOs) and carbon materials are ideal materials for photoelectrochemical sensors and energy storage devices. In this study, we used hydrothermal synthesis and in situ synthesis to prepare ZnO/ZIF-67/MWCNTs nanocomposites. We explored the material as a dual-function electrode material for Cannabidiol (CBD) photoelectrochemical sensors and a novel supercapacitor. We characterized the nanocomposites prepared, observing their microstructure and elemental composition. The detection limit of the ZnO/ZIF-67/ MWCNTs sensor was $0.06~\mu $ M, with a detection range of 1– $120~\mu $ M. For supercapacitors, the ZnO/ZIF-67/MWCNTs structure is also suitable, because at a current density of 4 A/g, it has a high specific capacitance (CPE) of 886.9 F/g and an 89% CPE retention rate after 4000 cycles. These outstanding results confirm the great potential of ZnO/ZIF-67/MWCNTs composites for photoelectrochemical sensing and energy storage.
