Development of an Integrated System for Remote Monitoring of Circuit Integrity in Biomedical Devices

Printed circuit boards (PCBs) playa crucial role in electro medical applications. Recent advances in electronic technology have facilitated the development of medical devices with increasingly sophisticated functionalities. To keep pace with ongoing innovations, medical PCBs must comply with applicable safety standards, ensuring that they are safe for both patients and healthcare professionals. A fundamental requirement is high reliability and durability. To ensure these characteristics, non-destructive testing methods applied to PCB boards can prevent malfunctions typically caused by manufacturing defects, which could render them unusable. This document focusses on solutions for the safe use of biomedical devices by analysing the electronic components most exposed to stress. An inspection system has been developed to detect defects in conductive materials, with the aim of assessing the integrity of PCB boards. The goal is to design and implement an integrated system capable of providing information for circuit analysis and assessing their integrity through a dedicated platform. This study demonstrates how embedded systems offer remarkable versatility, enabling the acquisition of essential data to ensure the safety and reliability of biomedical devices. The research can serve as a precursor to identify the areas most exposed to stress in biomedical devices, enhancing their safety and overall performance.
