Innovative Approaches to EEG in the Ear. Review

The electroencephalogram (EEG) in the ear is a contemporary, current, rapidly developing concept that is undergoing a meteoric, continuous evolution over time. This paper describes the main milestones covering the latest developments of the in-ear EEG concept including: wearable in-ear EEG systems, incorporation of artificial intelligence in in-ear EEG, use of in-ear EEG in various brain-computer interfaces, ultra-high density devices, sleep monitoring using this type of devices, and a brief comparison between conventional EEG - in-ear EEG.
