Research on Multi-Time Scale Complementary Characteristics Considering Wind and Solar Resource Endowment

Renewable energy sources, mainly wind power and photovoltaic power generation, are highly random and volatile. Large-scale access to the power grid will bring challenges to the safe and stable operation of the power grid. Fully exploring the complementary characteristics of wind and solar resources in the region can effectively suppress the fluctuation of large-scale renewable energy output power. Therefore, based on the ERA-5 atmospheric reanalysis data, this paper takes Anshan City as an example to analyze its wind and solar resource conditions and complementary characteristics at multiple time scales. First, the wind and solar potential and volatility indicators are proposed to assess the resource endowment, based on which the wind and solar complementary characteristics of Anshan area are analyzed in combination with the load demand. The experimental results show that wind and solar resources exhibit different complementary characteristics at different time scales, which is of great significance for planning and operation scheduling departments to rationally allocate resources.
