A Cohesive Battery Management System and Charger Design for Prolonged Battery Life in Electrical Cars

Improvements in battery technology and mounting environmental concerns are driving the growing trend of electric vehicles, or EVs. Mainstream adoption, however, depends on ensuring batteries are safe and operate at their best. The work is done with Battery Management Systems (BMS) and chargers by optimizing them. For the purpose of ensuring the battery pack operates safely and effectively, the suggested BMS continuously monitors and controls it. This design includes features critical to the health of batteries, such as temperature and voltage monitoring of the cells, cell balancing, state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health ($\mathbf{(S O H}$) assessment, current measurement, and modern amenities like variable control approaches, integrated charging algorithms, and reversible charging. The primary emphasis is on control algorithms and tactics intended to extend battery life, avoid overcharging and over-discharging, and maintain optimal thermal control. MATLAB simulations are used to verify these algorithms’ and tactics’ efficacy and are implemented them in hardware.
