A Survey and Review of Recent Literature on Lightning and Lightning Protection

During the past few years research in the areas of lightning and lightning protection has taken on new emphasis. The major reason for this has been the growing application of sensitive solid state electronics in a variety of systems. This paper is a survey and review of the literature that is available on recent and on-going work being performed in the U.S. and some other countries. Subject areas covered are new developments in lightning phenomenology and effects, shielding bonding and grounding techniques, and protection devices, A bibliography of significant publications and a list of references is provided. Information sources and procedures for obtaining documents is also included.
