Double-Mode SAW Resonator Filter: Synthesis and Physical Interpretation Based on Conventional Topologies

For 5G and 6G applications, achieving wider bandwidth and higher isolation levels is essential, yet traditional ladder architectures fall short. Topologies using acoustically coupled resonators provide superior out-of-band rejection, but a systematic synthesis process to link the reactance model with the physical structure is still missing. This paper introduces a synthesis method for the 2-IDT Double-Mode SAW (DMS) filter, by means on conventional topologies. The proposed approach successfully aligns some of the Coupling Matrix values with the physical behavior of the DMS structure, demonstrating strong correlation between the reactance and coupling-of-modes model.
